St Luke’s say count us in for Number Day
Staff and pupils at St Luke’s Primary School in Cambridge immersed themselves in all things numbers this month.
Everyone in school donned number related clothing to celebrate the NSPCC’s Number Day, a national maths fundraising day to help raise money and awareness for the children’s charity.
St Luke’s combined its dressing up day with other end of term activities to give an extra boost for fun for pupils.
Families made generous donations to the NSPCC and pupils spent the day counting themselves lucky with all sorts of fun number activities to take part in.
Children enjoyed number games, quizzes and even sports games that tested their maths knowledge.
Headteacher Beccy Ireland-Curtis said: “We really enjoy taking part in this national awareness day.
“It’s such a good way to raise funds for a much-needed cause, while bringing new ways of engaging with maths into the school. It’s also something a bit different when it comes to dressing up.
“The whole school enjoyed the day, which we combined with some other end of term events. We’re looking forward to totting up the total raised for the NSPCC – a big thank you to everyone who got involved.”
